The mayor of Forbach, Alexandre Cassaro, has been appointed Vice-President of ACOM. This association, which brings together elected officials from mining regions in France, is leading several campaigns, including that of the energy transition. And indeed, the development of white hydrogen seems promising.
Following the discovery in 2023 by researchers from the Georesources laboratory at the University of Lorraine, Jacques Pironon and Philippe de Donato, A potential deposit of this decarbonized resource could be found in the subsoil of Lorraine.
"This discovery represents a considerable challenge both ecologically and economically," says Alexandre Cassaro. "This is a crucial issue for the future of our region and for the decarbonization of industry. We must not ignore this topic." He added: "Elected officials need to take ownership of this issue. For Eastern Moselle, this resource represents the future. The energy and ecological transition is central. Today, we are encountering administrative difficulties. We need to go further and faster on the ongoing studies."
As a key interlocutor with public authorities, ACOM will be keen to champion this issue. The association also organizes energy conferences.
